Thunderbirds Legends: The Prequel Story to International Rescue Part Two & Three

Thunderbirds had a cosmic wave of renewed popularity during the 90s. Alongside the BBC Two reruns came swathes of new toys, games, media and merchandise, and very notably – ‘Thunderbirds the comic’. Written by Alan Fennel and illustrated by Andrew Skilleter, it was designed to be the ultimate prequel story to Thunderbirds.

Part Two continues with the backstory of the Tracy sons, Scott, Virgil, Alan, Gordon and John, and the disaster that took Jeff’s wife Lucille, leading him to have a breakdown. During this breakdown he revisits Tracy Island but crash lands, and is nursed back to healthy by the faithful Kyrano.

Part Three continues with Jeff’s recovery and official set up of International Rescue, recruiting Brains, Lady Penelope and Parker to the cause, and testing out the Thunderbird machines.

It’s a great story and fondly remembered amongst lots of fans, but it is not easily accessible or available these days. As such, we’ve created a new mini series on the Gerry Anderson YouTube channel entitled Thunderbirds Legends. This gives us the chance to revisit the Complete Thunderbirds Story, and bring an International Rescue origins story to life.

These new videos feature original artwork from the comics with additional animations, sound effects and narration.

Parts one is available on the Gerry Anderson YouTube channel.
