Spectrum’s floating HQ, Cloudbase, has just finished undergoing a total refit of some of its key operational components. Chief among these improvements are the HyperMax engines, a revolutionary new design which have proved to be 50% more efficient and provide 30% additional speed when compared with the older models.

Cloudbase underway during tests

Speaking from Cloudbase’s control room during Wednesday’s sky-trials, Colonel White reported, “Spectrum’s continuing mission is to combat the Mysteron threat. A great part of this task is carried out by highly trained personnel from around the globe, but it is equally important to provide them with the best equipment for the job. Cloudbase has performed admirably in its role as Spectrum’s aerial headquarters, but there is always room for improvement. When the opportunity arose to upgrade our propulsion system, it was something that had to be done.”

Lieutenant Green, Spectrum’s electronic’s expert, oversaw the integration of an advanced redundant computer core. After the installation was completed successfully he stated, “Cloudbase has one of the most sophisticated computer systems in the world. The Mysterons have proven to be a cunning enemy and we can never take too many precautions when dealing with them. Having a new back-up computer system is just one of the many safety features this refit has provided.”

Lieutenant Green usually assumes the role of Cloudbase Controller of Operations. During the refit, the role was taken by Lieutenant Silver, a relatively new recruit to the Cloudbase team. When asked about the responsibilities involved he replied, “Lieutenant Green is the most professional guy you could ever hope to work with. He’s been instrumental in helping me adjust to life aboard. I’ve always been fascinated with communications technology and I’m determined to do my best to help in the continuing war of nerves. Of course, it’s so much easier to strive for the best when you’ve got a great commander like the Colonel in charge.”

The final post-refit tests are scheduled to conclude on Monday, bringing Spectrum’s operational capabilities back to full strength once again.
